About Therapy & Mind

You’ve likely learned how to keep going no matter what.
To stay composed. To perform. To carry more than most people ever see.

And on the outside, it works.

But internally, something feels off—
constant pressure, difficulty slowing down, emotional reactivity, or a quiet sense of disconnection that doesn’t match your level of success.

This is the space I work in.

Why I Work With High-Achieving Individuals

I’m drawn to working with driven, high-functioning individuals because I’ve consistently seen the same pattern:

People who are capable, disciplined, and outwardly successful often become experts at managing everything—except themselves.

Not because they lack insight, but because they’ve had to rely on performance, responsibility, and control for a long time.

Over time, that comes at a cost:

  • Chronic stress that doesn’t fully turn off

  • Difficulty being present, even during rest

  • Emotional patterns that feel disproportionate or hard to explain

  • A sense of operating on “autopilot” rather than intention

This isn’t a lack of strength.
It’s often the result of a nervous system that hasn’t had the opportunity to fully process what it’s been carrying.

That’s where our work begins.

What It Feels Like to Work Together

The experience is intentionally different from rushed or surface-level care.

Sessions are structured, but not rigid. Thoughtful, but not overwhelming.

You won’t be pushed to talk about things before you’re ready.
You also won’t be left circling the same patterns without direction.

Instead, we focus on:

  • Understanding how your mind and nervous system are currently operating

  • Identifying the patterns that are keeping you stuck

  • Using evidence-based approaches—including EMDR and somatic techniques—to help your system actually process, not just manage

Most clients describe the experience as:

  • Grounded

  • Clear

  • Collaborative

  • Surprisingly relieving

The goal isn’t just insight.
It’s helping your system shift so that clarity, stability, and focus feel natural again.

A More Thoughtful Model of Care

Mental health care is often designed around speed—short visits, quick adjustments, reactive treatment.

That model doesn’t work well for complex, high-functioning individuals.

At Therapy & Mind, care is intentionally designed to be:

  • Unrushed – time to actually understand what’s going on

  • Evidence-based – grounded in approaches that are proven to work

  • Collaborative – you are part of every decision

  • Long-term focused – not just symptom control, but sustainable change

This allows us to address both immediate concerns and the deeper patterns driving them.

PMHNP vs. Psychiatrist — What’s the Difference?

This is a common and important question.

A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice clinician trained specifically in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment—including medication management and psychotherapy.

The difference is not in capability, but often in approach and model of care.

PMHNP care is typically:

  • More holistic (considering mental, physical, and environmental factors together)

  • More collaborative (greater emphasis on partnership and shared decision-making)

  • Less time-pressured (allowing for deeper evaluation and follow-up)

In private practice, this often translates to:

  • More time spent understanding your full picture

  • More thoughtful, individualized treatment planning

  • A stronger focus on integration—not just prescribing

For many clients, this model feels more aligned with the level of care they’re actually looking for.

Background & Training

My clinical foundation includes over a decade of experience across nursing, behavioral health, and interdisciplinary care.

I completed my training as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and continue to pursue advanced education in behavioral health, with a focus on integrating evidence-based psychiatric care with trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR.

While training and credentials matter, they serve one purpose:
to ensure the care you receive is grounded, precise, and effective.

What This Work Is Really About

This isn’t about fixing you.

It’s about helping you understand how your system adapted—and creating the conditions for it to function in a way that actually supports your life now.

The same qualities that helped you succeed—discipline, awareness, persistence—can become powerful tools in this process once the underlying friction is addressed.

A Simple Next Step

If any part of this resonates, the next step is a conversation.

A brief consultation allows us to understand what you’re experiencing, what you’re looking for, and whether this approach is the right fit for you.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

You just need a place to start.
