What makes Therapy & Mind different?

Therapy & Mind is not designed for rushed, high-volume care.

The focus is on careful evaluation, clear communication, thoughtful treatment planning, and evidence-based support. You are not treated like a checklist or a diagnosis—you are treated like a whole person.

What is EMDR, and is it right for me?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a well-researched therapy approach used to help people process distressing experiences.

It may be helpful if you feel stuck, emotionally reactive, overwhelmed by past experiences, or like traditional talk therapy has only taken you so far.

I’m not sure I have “real” trauma. Is therapy still for me?

Yes. Trauma does not always come from one major event.

It can also come from years of stress, pressure, emotional invalidation, instability, or feeling like you always have to hold everything together.

If something continues to affect how you feel, think, relate, or function, it is worth exploring.

How much does therapy cost?

Session fees range from $150 to $450, depending on the type and length of service.

Initial consultations and evaluations may range from $450 to $600.

Therapy & Mind is a private-pay practice, which allows care to remain personalized, confidential, and not limited by insurance rules.

Can I use my insurance?

Yes. Therapy & Mind is now in-network with Cigna, Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Quest Behavioral Health, and Regence BlueShield of Washington. If your plan is not listed, and you have a PPO with out-of-network benefits, a superbill can be provided for potential reimbursement.

Is telehealth available in California and Washington State?

Yes. Therapy & Mind offers telehealth services for clients located in California and Washington State.

Telehealth can be a good fit for busy adults who want private, convenient, and consistent access to care from home or another secure location.

Is telehealth effective for anxiety and ADHD?

Yes. Telehealth can support psychiatric evaluations, therapy, ADHD assessment, anxiety treatment, medication management, and follow-up care.

It can be especially helpful for busy professionals who need flexible access without travel time.

Can adults be diagnosed with ADHD later in life?

Yes. Many adults are diagnosed later because they have learned to compensate for symptoms for years.

Adult ADHD may show up as difficulty focusing, procrastination, mental fatigue, disorganization, emotional overwhelm, or relying on pressure and deadlines to function.

Do I need medication for ADHD or anxiety?

Not always.

Treatment may include therapy, behavioral strategies, lifestyle changes, EMDR-informed support, or medication when clinically appropriate. Recommendations are based on a thoughtful evaluation and your individual needs.

Is prescribing available through telehealth?

Yes, when clinically appropriate and allowed by applicable federal and state regulations.

Medication decisions are made carefully, with attention to safety, diagnosis, monitoring, and long-term treatment goals.

How do I know if I should seek help?

It may be time to reach out if you feel overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, emotionally stuck, unfocused, or unlike yourself.

You do not need to wait until things feel severe. A consultation can help you gain clarity and understand your options.

What are the qualifications of the therapists at Therapy & Mind?

Care at Therapy & Mind is provided by a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-C) with advanced training in both psychiatric evaluation and psychotherapy.

This includes:

  • Graduate-level clinical training in mental health diagnosis and treatment

  • Experience working in complex medical and psychiatric settings, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

  • Expertise in evidence-based approaches such as:

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    • Trauma-informed care

    • EMDR-informed treatment

  • Training in medication management when clinically appropriate

Care is grounded in a whole-person, evidence-based approach, integrating both psychological and medical perspectives when needed.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, treatment is individualized, collaborative, and intentionally unrushed—focused on understanding the full picture before making recommendations.

What are the benefits of telehealth therapy sessions for busy professionals?

Telehealth therapy is designed to fit into real life—especially for individuals balancing demanding schedules, leadership roles, or multiple responsibilities.

Key benefits include:

Convenience without disruption
Sessions can take place from your home or office—no commute, no waiting rooms, and minimal interruption to your day.

Flexible scheduling
Appointments can be more easily integrated into busy or unpredictable schedules.

Privacy and discretion
You can attend sessions from a space you choose, which can feel more comfortable and reduce concerns about being seen entering a clinic.

Consistency of care
Fewer barriers make it easier to maintain regular sessions, which is important for meaningful progress.

Comfort and focus
Many individuals find it easier to open up and engage when they are in a familiar environment.

Are there therapy services specializing in trauma for high-achieving individuals?

Yes. Trauma-informed therapy can be specifically tailored for high-achieving individuals—especially those who appear successful externally but feel persistently overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or mentally exhausted.

For many professionals, trauma does not always come from a single event. It can develop over time through:

  • Chronic high-pressure environments

  • Repeated stress without recovery

  • Emotional invalidation or perfectionistic expectations

  • The ongoing need to perform at a high level

These experiences can impact focus, relationships, decision-making, and overall well-being—even when everything looks “fine” on the surface.

What specialized trauma therapy may include

Trauma-informed care
A structured, evidence-based approach that focuses on understanding how past and ongoing stress affects current functioning.

EMDR-informed therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a well-researched method supported by organizations such as the World Health Organization for processing distressing experiences and reducing emotional reactivity.

High-functioning client focus
Care is adapted for individuals who are used to performing at a high level, often emphasizing:

  • Insight and clarity

  • Emotional regulation

  • Sustainable performance without burnout

Where can I find compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for professionals?

You can find this type of care in practices that are intentionally designed for high-functioning, busy individuals—where treatment is both clinically grounded and human-centered.

At Therapy & Mind, care is built around that model.

What to look for in a provider

Evidence-based treatment
Approaches supported by research—such as CBT, trauma-informed care, and EMDR-informed therapy—help ensure that care is effective and structured.

A thoughtful, unrushed approach
Meaningful mental health care requires time, attention, and careful evaluation—not rushed appointments.

Experience with high-performing individuals
Professionals often experience stress differently. Working with someone who understands performance pressure, burnout, and executive demands can make a meaningful difference.

Privacy and flexibility
Telehealth options allow for discreet, convenient care that fits into a demanding schedule.

Organizations like the American Psychiatric Association emphasize the importance of using evidence-based approaches combined with individualized care.

How do I find a therapist who offers EMDR and somatic approaches?

Finding a therapist who offers both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and somatic (body-based) approaches starts with knowing what to look for—and what questions to ask.

What to look for

Specialized training
Look for clinicians who have formal training in EMDR and experience with trauma-informed, body-based therapies. EMDR is a structured method supported by organizations like the World Health Organization for processing distressing experiences.

Trauma-informed approach
Somatic work focuses on how stress and trauma are held in the body—so it’s important the provider understands both psychological and physiological aspects of care.

Experience with your type of stress
If you’re a high-functioning professional, look for someone who understands:

  • Chronic stress and burnout

  • High-performance environments

  • Emotional suppression or overcontrol

Questions to ask a potential therapist

  • What is your training in EMDR?

  • Do you incorporate somatic or body-based techniques?

  • How do you tailor treatment for high-functioning individuals?

  • What does a typical session look like?

These questions can help you determine whether the approach is structured, intentional, and aligned with your needs.

Why some people choose not to use insurance

Greater privacy
Insurance typically requires a mental health diagnosis and ongoing documentation. Private-pay care keeps your information more contained.

No restrictions on care
Insurance companies often limit:

  • Number of sessions

  • Type of treatment

  • Length of appointments

Private-pay allows treatment to be guided by clinical need—not insurance policies.

More personalized treatment
Sessions can be more in-depth, collaborative, and tailored to your specific goals.

Can I still use my insurance benefits?

Possibly.

If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement.

A superbill can be provided after each session, which you can submit to your insurance. Reimbursement rates vary by plan, and I cannot confirm exact coverage without reviewing your specific policy.
